2000 Spring Conference

Frühjahrskonferenz: 1. April 2000
Promoting German Studies in North Carolina
Organisation und Leitung: Dave Limburg,
(Guilford College in Greensboro, North Carolina)

Invitation

Dear Colleagues,

As many of you may be aware, several secondary schools lost their German programs this year, and there are discussions underway to cut programs even at the university level. Therefore, it was decided at the Fall NC/AATG meeting that we would use our Spring AATG conference to plan and discuss ways to reverse this trend.

Please join us for the Spring Conference under the leadership of Dave Limburg at Guilford College in Greensboro, Saturday April 1, 2000. We will be discussing ways to promote German studies in the state of North Carolina and to increase cooperation between the schools and universities.

There will be NO CONFERENCE FEE, but please bring money for lunch (ca. $6.00). I would appreciate it, if you would send me an email reply by Mar. 23, 2000 letting me know whether you will be attending. (If you prefer, you may also fax your confirmation to me at 336.334.5885).

Bring any ideas you may have on the two topics: promoting German programs and increasing cooperation between the schools and universities. You may also send your ideas to me electronically so that they can be posted to our web site. If you know of any web sites that deal with these topics you may send them to me and I will incorporate them as well.

Thanks in advance, and I look forward to seeing you on April 1, 2000.

Sincerely,

Penelope J. Pynes
President of the North Carolina Chapter of AATG
