Dear Friends:

I am pleased to welcome you to NC-AATG’s annual German Day, to be held this year on Wednesday, March 9, at Guilford College in Greensboro, NC from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm.

*Contests*: 2011 competitions will be the same as in previous years, and will continue popular events such as the scavenger hunt and karaoke contest. All contests will have prizes for the best performances.

*Theme*: This year’s German Day has a musical theme: “Deutsch klingt gut!” As always, students participating in skit performances, poster design, and the t-shirt contest must incorporate the theme into their work. The motto will also be part of an extemporaneous speaking prompt.

*Scheduling Restraints*: Each school may participate in all activities, though scheduling constraints will force you and your students to choose some specific activities for each student. Please see the tentative schedule to help you plan. Be careful not to cross-schedule students!

*Deadlines*: Registration forms are due no later than Friday, February 25, 2011. Receipt of all registrations will be acknowledged via email. Late registrations will not be accepted. Please mail your registration and fees in a timely fashion.

*Fees*: Required Registration = $4.00; optional t- shirt = $8.00; optional Lunch = $8.00. In other words, $20 gets students everything they need: t-shirt, lunch, and the registration fee. Teachers and judges who are AATG members get lunch free of charge and are not charged a registration fee. Teachers and judges who are not AATG members get lunch free of charge but are asked to pay an adult registration fee of $9. As with student t-shirts, adult t-shirts cost $8 a piece. (Become a member).

I look forward to seeing you on the Guilford College campus for a musical German Day 2011!

Warm regards,
David Limburg, Guilford College Professor of German
