Dear colleagues:

The 2016 26th annual North Carolina German Immersion Weekend for advanced German students will be held on November 11-12th at Camp Caraway outside of Asheboro. The camp is sponsored by the N.C. Chapter of the American Association of Teachers of German (AATG). It is a fun tradition that goes back to 1980! Participating students agree to speak German during the entire event, work cooperatively with all students and teachers, and participate in all activities.

The theme for this year’s camp is: Musik kennt keine Grenzen! (Music knows no boundaries!)
Among the events are:

The cost of the camp is $60/student which includes transportation, room, 3 meals and a t-shirt. Campers will sleep in bunk beds in their respective rooms (girls’ or boys’). Students should also bring comfortable shoes and clothing, rain gear, a flash light and a digital camera (one per school). The camp lasts approximately 24 hours, from about 5 pm on Friday until about the same time Saturday.

Payment is due to the participating teacher by Friday, October 14th along with t-shirt size and consent form. At this point, the student is committed. The T-shirt order form should be emailed to and the Participants Form will be emailed to . Consent forms stay with the teacher and are brought to the camp. Please understand that there are no refunds possible. Teachers will send in all collected money by Thursday, October 17th so t-shirts can be ordered and delivered on time. Checks should be made out to NC-AATG. Send the payment form and check(s) to the NC-AATG Treasurer: Linda Horvath, 8801 Rosslare Villas Ct., Charlotte, NC. 28226. Please include the name of the school on the return address.
