Deutsches Wochenende 2015

6.-7. November 2015
Camp Caraway, Asheboro

September 20, 2015

Dear colleagues:

The 25th annual North Carolina German Immersion Weekend for advanced German students will be held on November 6-7, 2015 at Camp Caraway outside of Asheboro. The camp is sponsored by the NC-AATG (American Association of Teachers of German) with a generous grant for one teacher bringing students to the event as well as a discounted price for students.  It is a fun tradition that goes back to 1980!  Participating students agree to speak German during the entire event, work cooperatively with all students and teachers, and participate in all activities. Advanced students are typically from levels 3+, but invitation to advanced level 2 students are left up to the discretion of the German teacher.

Among the events are:

The cost of the camp is $55 per student, which includes lodging, 3 meals and a t-shirt.  Teachers should consider cost additions such as transportation and chaperone costs ($55). Campers will sleep in bunk beds in their respective rooms (girls’ or boys’). Students should also bring some comfortable shoes and clothing, rain gear, a flashlight and a digital camera with connecting cable (one per school). The camp lasts approximately 24 hours, from about 4 pm on Friday until 4:30pm on Saturday.

Payment is due to the teacher by October 10th along with t-shirt size and consent form. At this point, the student is committed. Please understand that there are no refunds possible. Teachers will send in collected money by October 15th so t-shirts can be ordered and delivered on time. Checks should be made out to RJ Reynolds HS German Club. Send the payment form and check(s) to: Brigitte Woloszyn, RJ Reynolds HS 301 N Hawthorne Road Winston-Salem, NC 27104. The T-shirt order form should be emailed to Consent forms stay with the teacher and are brought to the camp.
