2007 Fall Conference "Too Much Literature?
The Role of Literary Studies in the German Classroom"
Elon University
19-20 October 2007
Welcome
Dear Colleagues:
You are cordially invited to attend our next Lehrerkonferenz, "The Role of Literary Studies in the German Classroom." The event will take place 19-20 October at Elon University.
The conference is made possible by the generous support of AATG, the Department of Foreign Languages, the College of Arts & Sciences, and the Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning at Elon.
All AATG members and prospective members are welcome to attend. The conference provides an excellent opportunity to meet with colleagues of all levels, to discuss the role of literary studies in our classrooms—a hot topic since the MLA’s report on the subject this summer—and to shape and improve the content of our German Day for high school students (also at Elon, March 2008).
In addition, we are particularly delighted to hear from Dr. Lutz Hermann Görgens, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany, who will be with us on both days. For non-members, the meeting is also a chance to meet with fellow professionals and weigh the benefits of membership.
Come for presentations, compelling business items, relaxing Kaffeeklatsch, and a tour of the new Deutsches Haus living-learning community. After attending the conference each participant will receive a certificate that may be counted towards CEU credits in the teacher’s home district.
Registration
To register for the conference, please download the registration form (pdf) and return it, along with a check made out to NCAATG, to the address below. Conference fees are $25 for Fr./Sa. or $15 for Sa. only. Full-time students and teachers in their first or second year of service may attend at half price ($12.50 or $7.50, resp.)!!!
